Nicole Hawkins Communications

Nicole Hawkins founded Nicole Hawkins Communications (NHC) in October 2004.  From a family of entrepreneurs, Nicole started the business shortly after her 30th birthday.  NHC works with clients on strategic positioning, branding, event planning, public relations, and community outreach.

Prior to founding NHC, Nicole was the Director of Public Relations for the Washington Wizards (NBA) where she worked closely with players including Michael Jordan.  She was responsible for pitching and facilitating media interviews, planning press conferences and other special events, producing team-related publications and traveling with the team to ensure all media relations requirements were met.  Nicole was the first African American woman to hold the position of Public Relations Director for an NBA franchise.  Prior to the Wizards, Nicole worked with various promoters and artists as the Director of Public Relations for Monumental Sports (formerly Washington Sports and Entertainment).  In this position, she was responsible for maximizing public relations efforts for concerts, family shows and other special events that came to Verizon Center and the George Mason University Patriot Center.
In the winter of 2012, Nicole is excited to be launching a blog and speaking series focusing on her business and life experiences.

Understanding the importance of giving back, Nicole is an active volunteer in her community. She is also actively involved with her church, Central United Methodist in Arlington, Virginia.  Nicole is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park.
